These products, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has deemed illegal, are manufactured in Shenzhen, China—often called the world’s “Vapor Valley.” They are produced in youth-enticing flavors such as cotton candy, bubble gum, and piña colada, packaged in bright, attractive designs. Even more concerning, they are disguised as everyday items like highlighters, cellphones, USB drives, and makeup products to evade detection by parents, educators, and law enforcement. Social media platforms like TikTok amplify their reach, targeting underage users through aggressive marketing campaigns.
Right now, very little is being done to stop the import and sale of harmful, disposable vapes to South Carolina kids. Parents, educators, law enforcement officers and healthcare workers across South Carolina are sounding the alarm. Urgent action by our elected officials is needed to take the flavor out of these enticing products, off store shelves and out of the hands of our children. It’s time to take the flavor out of vaping and unhook our kids.
Take the first step in making a difference for South Carolina’s future.
We’re working to protect our kids, schools, and communities from the threat of these invasive devices.
